Best Kept Blogging Secrets
Posted on October 20, 2005
Ever since Tim Erway gave me the nudge last year about blogging I’ve had my head stuck in WordPress pages, themes, templates, and yes - code.
Mucking around in all that code can give any one a headache, even an html junkie like myself!
I knew WordPress was awesome - probably the most versatile and feature rich blog creation and management system available, but I also knew that some pretty basic search engine optimization techniques weren’t addressed in the standard install and that many of the templates that you can download for your blog are also lacking in this department.
Being the cheapskate that I am, I decided to wade through the thousands of postings on WordPresses official forum - a place to get lost forever reading stupid questions and snarky answers. Actually it’s not all that bad, but often when a real situation presents itself, and you’re longing to know the answers - you’ll see the asker and the expert then make arrangements to meet and discuss in instant messaging! ARGH!
Then there were hours and hours of surfing through the plugins, trial and error with those installs…
Which is why, when David Pankhurst came along and offered me his WordPress Tricks for less than $40 I jumped on it. (I emailed you about it - you are on my list aren’t you?) It didn’t sell very well though and I fear the reason was that it was still a little too techy…but it did come with some awesome plugins!
Still the template issue…
And still not sure that the plugins I was using were the most time efficient…
And sure enough, as wonderful as they are, they’re now shadowed by the full product I picked up tonight…prepare for a new look next week (I just have a few other projects to get off my plate before I make the changes here…)
First off:
- a no-fluff female (part niche marketer, part WordPress geek) guide to optimizing WordPress blogs,
- the coolest plugins (and a complete walk through on installing them),
- the hands-down best template for search engine success (and a walk through on how to install a template),
- and a membership/product owner blog to keep up to date on latest developments,
- and (dang) I’m too tired to remember everything else in there!
And, to top it all off - this was the kicker - Paul Short (if you don’t know him you should - especially if you’re blogging) handed over a glowing testimonial. What’s all the buzz about social proof? It didn’t take me long to hit ‘Order Now’ after I saw Paul’s name there…
She’s got 5 copies to sell before the price goes up - and she’s no ‘trickster’ so you can bet the price will be up another $20 in a few days time. Get over there now, don’t wait, and grab your copy!
This is the real thing folks, a marketer with integrity - just like Michelle Timothy and a few others I could mention if I wasn’t so zoned out…marketers that answer emails, support you even after the sale, and who believe that a customer should last the life of the business…
Enough?
Go check it out now.
No geek training required.

Wow! I see she’s just changed the site. It used to say 5 more copies till the price goes up…it’s down to three (3) now. You’ll save $20 just for getting there quicker - but don’t wait. This page probably won’t update until Monday morning so take advantage of the weekend and grab your copy.
Laura,
Been trying to get in touch with you by email. Drop me a line when you have a minute
Tim
An update on that low price remaining on the page…seems Teli’s home was hit by one of the latest storms. She’s out of hydro for the next 3-4 weeks (estimated) which is why the price hasn’t changed yet. She’s got a friend helping her with her site operations - which means you can still grab the template, plugins and advice for optimizing WordPress blogs at a great price (before her able assistant gets around to updating the pricing structure!).
Hi Laura,
I purchased her book… good stuff in it. I see you use an email notification. The one she recommends in her book won’t install correctly.
What plug in did you use?
Thanks
Hi Ann:
I’m currently using the subscribe2 plugin but I do want to switch everything over soon to Teli’s layout and css, I was part way there when busy-ness hit the household. You can grab the subscribe2 plugin.
I haven’t had any troubles with it and it was an easy install/config. I know Teli’s out of commission at the moment due to Hurricane Wilma, but when she’s back we’ll both get the ‘fix’ for her email plugin - of course if I discover the trouble first I’ll email you again.
Thanks for dropping by!
Laura
