Skepticism is healthy...

"I keep hearing in my head, "well if it's that easy why isn't everyone doing it?" Guess that's my skepticism coming out again."

Here's the short answers...most people are too lazy to do the work involved in getting started - you know read a book, spend some time brainstorming....

Many are afraid of trying something new.

Many are afraid of what their friends and family will think.

Many are without faith.

Many are without vision.

But the few who have conquered those things, plus the few who end up a success in spite of their own shortcomings - are making small fortunes.

No hype. It's true.

Your computer is definately going to be a challenge at this point. But you'll get through it. And take the first bunch of money you make and buy a new one. In Canada they're selling for $400 fully loaded at the super stores. Get one on lease if you have to. I'm sure you'll figure it out.

As for taxes you must claim your income (no matter where it comes from).

This is just like running a small biz. But don't worry about having to claim your income from niche marketing...because you're going to be able to write off so much! Your computer purchase, your internet connection, your gas for trips to the bank, part of your rent/mortgage, etc. This is a small business so whatever rules apply in your state to a small
business, follow those rules. The extra income won't hurt you for this year because you'll have expenses to defray your taxes that you've probably never had before - part of your hydro, part of your car payment, part of your heating/cooling bill. You'll soon see the benefits...Ask around to other small biz owners you may know...

Okay? Stay focused and get busy.

Laura,

Thanks for the info. I was on "vacation" last week and just got back Sunday so have been trying to get back into the swing of things here this week. I did not want to come back.

The trip did serve to help motivate me to work on niche marketing more. There just seem to be fewer and fewer traditional jobs and even those don't pay enough to live on, at least that's the case in the southwestern US.

It is still hard to believe though that something so simple could work to get income. I keep hearing in my head, "well if it's that easy why isn't everyone doing it?" Guess that's my skepticism coming out again.

I do wonder how people who do this in the US handle taxes regarding online income.

I don't know what's up with my computer but it works when it wants to. It is really old and pre-dates the Pentium processor so it may be getting close to time to retire it.

I would like to get a newer model or even a laptop but I can't afford that. I can use the computer at the library but only for a half hour at a time and there is usually a line so I don't get on much there. It seems like with working nights I don't have time to do much at all, especially since I have to drive an hour there and then an hour back.

Gee, sounds like I'm coming up with more objections and excuses than doing anything about them. I do appreciate your help and information. Thanks for listening and for being willing to "pay it forward" as it were. If you have any suggestions or tips I'd sure welcome them.
