Pingomatic Pings plus Other Pinger-Things

Friday, June 3, 2005

This is a continuation of a previous post about ping engines.

Ping (aka notify) the ping engines every time you post a new article or item on your blog to get the search engines to your site more often.

Now most bloggers use pingomatic.com as a fast ‘notify’ engine. Pingomatic is a lot like the ‘corner store’, the ‘middle man’ in the operation. You tell pingomatic, it tells the other ping engines. Of course it doesn’t tell them all. See below:

Pingomatic covers:

Weblogs.com
Blo.gs
Technorati
Feed Burner
Syndic8
NewsGator
Feedster
My Yahoo!
PubSub.com
Blogdigger
BlogRolling
BlogStreet
Moreover
Weblogalot

Those on my list not covered by pingomatic:

http://www.blogoon.net/ping/

http://coreblog.org/ping/

http://ping.bitacoras.com

http://ping.bloggers.jp/rpc/

http://ping.blogmura.jp/rpc/

http://ping.cocolog-nifty.com/xmlrpc

http://ping.exblog.jp/xmlrpc

http://ping.myblog.jp

http://www.popdex.com/addsite.php

http://www.snipsnap.org/RPC2

http://topicexchange.com/RPC2

It isn’t imperative that you add these other ping engines to your posting schedule, but more links ‘in’ usually means more traffic, more ‘points’ in the search engines eyes.

p.s. Next post will be about how to add these ‘ping-er things’ (as one subscriber so elequently put it) to your blog.

Other than pingomatic are there any other automated pingers?

    Thanks,

  2. For the first time since I’ve been using pingo it’s not working. Anyone else having a problem, and what can I do about it?

  3. When Pingomatic’s Down…

At long last I can ping loads of sites in a few seconds in a pretty design. For the last two days I’ve been (pathetically) manually pinging various sites until Vox Efx told be about this service called Blogomatic.

Clicking through Joe’s blog, and perhaps somewhere else, I also found an easy one to use for those of us who are blog-idiots, just getting our feet wet. PingMyBlog (editor’s note – pingmyblog no longer in service – this link goes to blogflux)
    pings weblogs.com
    blogrolling
    blogshares
    technorati
    blo.gs
    feedburner
    syndic8
    yahoo

Works using the rss url. Pretty idiot-proof.
