RSS – Demystifying the Confusion
RSS – Demystifying the Confusion Over RSS Feeds and Blogs
“I tried to sign up for RSS at your site but was taken to a page with a lot of code. Nothing happened. So I’m confused.” -Joe Vitale

Dear Reader:
This free resource was originally part of The Stampede Secret’s ecourse on understanding Blogs and RSS Feeds.
Let’s get right to it shall we? There’s really no time to waste.
This technology is just beginning its boom and we’ve got 6 short emails to bring you up to speed.
What’s the rush you ask?
The golden opportunity!
Today, we’ll focus on RSS Syndication News Feeds and the current complexity of them. You’ll understand why it is so confusing and have made sense of it all by the end of these 6 brief lessons.
A lot of people right now don’t have a clue what an RSS Feed is. They’ve either heard rumblings about them in site design or marketing forums or they’ve seen little RSS or XML buttons popping up on websites everywhere.
If you’re like Joe and I, you might have clicked on one of those website buttons and ended up with a page full of code that looks a lot like raw html.
Even though it ‘looks like Greek’ (or should I say ‘geek’) you decide not to give up, and research RSS by search
engine results.
This however, only frustrates you further, as your head swims over all the strange terminology and outdated
articles leading as far back to 1998.
XML, RDF, RSS, Atom, Syndication Feed, Aggregator, Parsing, Validators, News feed, web feed, site feed…what does it all mean?
Your browser couldn’t display it, you can’t make sense of it, so you eventually give up, saying: “This is not for me! This only applies to the techno-geeks, or the big content sites – not for me or my market!”
I beg you not to give up too early.
RSS Feeds could have a huge impact on your income, your subscription count and your traffic!
Take heart and forge on!
By the end of this series, you will see that:
- feeds are not just for geeks,
- having a feed could literally explode your site traffic,
- where you can learn the ins-and-outs of feeds from someone who
speaks YOUR language.
Next we”ll discover the origin and increasing popularity of RSS Feeds…

Jillian Coleman from www.GrantMeRich.com said this about The Stampede Secret: “I love this — The Stampede Secret! For a low-tech girl like me, this is a treasure trove of information. To be perfectly candid, two days ago I didn’t have the faintest idea what an RSS feed was – now I’m implementing it on my site!”
