As an internet marketer, you have a chance to grab your share of the increased buying activity on the Web. Your goal this season should be to tap into new platforms to reach your target market. You can do that via social marketing.

What is social marketing? It is advertising and marketing that reaches potential consumers through social networking websites. Examples are Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, Bebo, LinkedIn and others. Links to your website, or specific product or service landing pages, are part of your user’s profile. In addition, as you post on these sites you can include an advertising or marketing link with your message.

Essentially, social marketing involves creating a marketing message designed to promote your product or service. However, you do this while engaging in informative conversation with others. Effective social marketing is an exchange of ideas, advice, info and tips between users of a particular social site.

Job Listings Click here

A marketing message is part of this conversation. The thing is those who blatantly promote without concern for others needs, usually garner little from these sites. People on the receiving end of these hyped sales messages tend to tune these people out. Users of social networking sites want useful information from others. They want a dialogue and a sharing of quality information.

Sales Director Job Description

In effect, social marketing is like article marketing. With article marketing, you write good articles and distribute them through a quality content distribution service. You’re looking to give something of value to your readers. You want them to appreciate the wealth of information and help you give them in your article.

Of course, you want them linking from your article to your website. It’s the same with social marketing. During the holiday season, the web is a busier place. You have numerous opportunities to meet and talk with others online. You can offer them the same quality information as you do in your articles.

Its smaller chunks of information you present, but helpful information nonetheless. Added to this information are links to your website, or affiliate product links. You can also point readers of your message to other sites where they can get useful information.

This builds your credibility as a site participator. People begin to trust you. They see you’re looking to help others find solutions to problems, or answers to questions and concerns. Therefore, there’s a right way to approach social marketing.

First, you have to devote time to social marketing. You can’t expect to post once or twice on a site and then get reams of traffic. You must post consistently so others can get to know you. As they engage in dialogue with you, they learn to trust you, and the business you’re promoting.

It’s not too late to begin now. Who knows the connections you can make in the next month. Post consistently each day and week. You just may make some connections that lead to extra Christmas season sales for your business.

Second, you have to give your undivided attention to others on social sites. In other words, listen closely to what someone who connects with you is saying. Effective social marketing, at Christmas, or anytime, is a two-way street. It’s not all about you, what you’re offering.

Think of your response, or lack thereof, when someone’s hogging a conversation. You can’t get any of your ideas and questions across. You quickly become bored with someone who always hijacks a conversation. You move on to talk to someone else who likes to share ideas. Therefore, be attentive to the concerns of others on any site you frequent this holiday season.

Third, you have to contribute useful content consistently. Contributing a few friendly posts to make connections, only to follow them with continual blatant sales pitches won’t work. You build good online relationships through contributing good information always.

In this way, you build the rapport that leads to “leads.” People will click on your links to find out more about your products and such. That’s because they see you as a reputable online marketer who has their best interests at heart. Don’t give the impression that you’re “hunting down a sale at any cost”; it’ll cost you your reputation.

Remember, at Christmas, people receive a constant bombardment of Madison Avenue hype. They don’t need this from your social networking commentary. They need practical information from you and helpful tips. Let them learn to trust you. Let them make the decision to link back to you and further a business relationship with you.

Definitely utilize the social sites available to you for marketing your business this holiday season. Start today. Remember though, it’s better to give than to receive. In the end, you giving quality information via social marketing will have you receiving the traffic you desire anyways.

Affiliate marketing has many descriptions, yet all have the same meaning. Affiliate marketing is a huge business piece on the Internet.

It is a cooperative effort between merchants and an affiliate’s website. For many years now, affiliate marketing has proved to be a cost-efficient, measurable method of delivering long-tern results. It has become famous for Internet sites who are trying to make some extra or additional income for their site.

Every day, people get interested to affiliate marketing and want to make money out of it. But in many cases, these new affiliates do not fully understand the affiliate world and make costly mistakes. In other words, affiliate marketing has often been misunderstood.

One of the common misconceptions that are being associated about affiliate marketing is “selling”, though selling is an important activity of affiliate marketing and the central function of a business operation. Another is that affiliate marketing is commonly linked with “advertising”.

While the importance of advertising in marketing a certain product is not to be underestimated, the fact of the matter is, advertising like selling, is merely a part of the many functions of marketing.

In affiliate marketing, an affiliate is compensated for every visitor, subscriber and/or customer provided through his efforts. The said compensation may be made based on a certain value for each visit. The most attractive aspect of affiliate marketing from the merchant’s viewpoint is that no payment is due to an affiliate until results are appreciated.

Affiliate marketing is typically being run by affiliate networks and this affiliate networks are composed of two functional bodies, the group affiliates and the group merchants. Each has their special function and role when it comes to affiliate marketing.

The affiliate network acts as a third party between the merchant and the associated affiliates. The network provides the technology to deliver the merchant’s campaigns and offers. The affiliate network also collects commission fees from the merchant and then pays the affiliates which are part of the program.

The merchant is any web site owner that wants or desires to take advantage of performance based marketing. The benefits to the merchant are many. First, the merchant maintains and operates the affiliate program.

If it would be extracted, the merchant needs to do their part by researching interested affiliate websites to ensure that they are a good fit for that particular website. Finding a fit for their merchandise would be the key to more generated income.

The merchant has access to markets and customers without him spending valuable time searching out. Banner ads on affiliate sites are not distracting to the site user. It might produce interest for that product and drive the consumer to the merchants’ website. It is also the merchant who decides how much he is willing to pay for each sale that results from a visitor sent from an affiliate.

The affiliate or the affiliate marketer also sees a lot of benefits. The affiliate is a web site owner that promotes one or more merchants and their affiliate programs. Affiliate marketing can generate a full-time income for the affiliate. But this is not an easy task to accomplish.

The affiliate needs to have a better understanding with the merchant what the commission will be, expected payment method and time involved in the contract. The affiliate has also the responsibility to stand for the merchandise their user based would be most interested in. For example, if the site has a user base of mainly stay-at-home mothers, then on-line job openings such as surveys would be a good match for them.

This group would also appreciate direct links to children’s products and informational sites. Merchandisers often provide targeted, best-seller items and personal support to their affiliate. They often offer sales promotions that will benefit the merchandiser as well as the affiliate.

Affiliate marketing is a great situation for both the marketer and the affiliate. If they would work together, they can be an advantage to both.

Plus the fact that it seems to make sense, it is easy and inexpensive way to start, and you can be up and running within a few days. But there is one thing to consider, it is how to get traffic and make your offer different than all others.

There are 6 rules you must use when building any affiliate website if you want the website to make you any money.

Building Your Site Rule #1
Always have a strong headline.

No matter how great your sales copy is or how great your content and information is… no one will stick around long enough to read it unless you grab them with your headline.

Make sure you have a compelling enough headline to make the person want to stay and read your information.

Building Your Site Rule #2
Make your home page a strong sales letter that combines elements of an article and an endorsement.

The best way to have a sales letter that is not hyped up and can still do a good “pre-sell” is to have a form of a product “review” or “endorsement.” What most people are interested in is reading the pros and cons about a product. Spend some time and dedicate the home page to a good product, write a good “endorsement” article.

Building Your Site Rule #3
Stop hiding your links. Let your visitors read your articles…

Some advocates of the old mini-site strategy advised you to have NO other links on your site. There was supposed to be just one other link – the BUY NOW link. And I think this still works, but for merchant sites – not affiliate websites.

Remember, your job is to PRE-SELL, not sell. You’re not trying to corner your potential customer, you’re just trying to gain their trust. The best way to gain their trust is to offer them a bunch of useful advice and helpful content. That means you’ll need LINKS to all that good stuff on your site.

Now remember, the other articles on your site should also be “pre-selling” your readers – so one way or the other, you will be able to gain their trust and get the sale.

Building Your Site Rule #4
Offer lots and lots of articles – all with easy navigation.

As PPC gets more and more expensive, it’s getting harder and harder to get qualified leads from search engine advertising. It’s also getting tougher and tougher to find easy shortcuts to a #1 placement. A cheaper and more effective strategy is to patiently work WITH the search engines rather than trying to trick them or buy into them.

How do you work WITH the search engines? You offer content: articles, reviews, specs. If you can provide the search engines with what their users want, then the search engines will gladly send you free traffic. Affiliates are taking a strong turn towards doing search engine optimization and search engines want to see content.

Building Your Site Rule #5
Add some other services and products to your site.

Focus your site on one niche AREA; then introduce additional products or services in key spots throughout the site. These additions should ALWAYS be tightly related to your site theme. Your potential customers are introduced to additional choices in the CONTEXT of an article or a review. You’re giving them additional ways to spend money on you.

And by additional products, I mean products that you have potentially created yourself – high ticket products that can bring in a lot of money. High-ticket affiliate products are OK as well.

Building Your Site Rule #6
Include an FAQ section – most critical!

Almost NO affiliate sites use this strategy. However, it’s one of the most powerful.

You’re probably very well aware of the most common questions people ask? Well, build them into your sales letter/endorsement/article. Use sub-headlines to draw attention to them. The quicker your visitors can find their answers through your website, the quicker they will buy from you and the more they will return to your site.

The above 6 rules should be followed very closely for every affiliate site you ever launch. Together they optimize your website to be the most profitable.
