One of the problems affiliate marketers have is designing a website and then understanding how to begin the process of promoting their product. </p>
<p>If you&#8217;re doing this manually, you can waste valuable time and effort trying to attract traffic to your website, especially if you are not receiving any profits.   So what is the answer? What should you do if you too are facing a situation of too much work and not enough income?</p>
<p>Most of the hype that surrounds affiliate marketing presents many ways of how you can become rich and make money if you promote this product or invest in that product. There are also many ways in which you can lose your money in affiliate marketing.  This article will cover how your website can attract and keep your website visitors.  </p>
<p>The biggest issue among marketers is website traffic; the fact that visitors may leave their website within 30 seconds of arriving is a common problem among marketers seeking to be successful. The website is one of the most important strategic advantages when promoting affiliate marketing products. Plus, your website has to be able to attract and keep your website surfers. </p>
<p>As Internet marketers we sometimes do not give our website visitors what they need.  Sometimes it&#8217;s not enough content to read, not enough videos to view on how the product works, the sales letter doesn&#8217;t &#8220;pop&#8221; or there may not be enough products for your visitors to browse through. The website can be compared to being the same as window shopping. Most shoppers concentrate more on the esthetics of the store and may not venture inside unless something catches their eye or intrigue begs them to enter for more. </p>
<p>Website design is not for everyone. That is why there are those with that creative knack to build websites exist. A webmaster should be utilized if you can afford one, you can also purchase ready made websites or niche sites as some are called where all you have to do is host the site or add your own content and last, you can obtain the appropriate training on how to build a website if you are wanting to create a professionally designed affiliate site. </p>
<p>How the website attracts and encourages return visits is important. Sometimes the site&#8217;s design is great, but the site is static because it doesn&#8217;t engage the visitor. The visitor is not asked to do anything but read the content. To get your website visitor to do more they must be intrigued by your content, the fact that you are promising more through a free e-book, software or even coaching. </p>
<p>They have to know that landing on your website is not a waste of their time. They are going to get something for their visit that will benefit them. That means you almost have to offer them a freebie for their time. Even if you don&#8217;t have a free product to give them, provide them a sample of the product you are promoting. That will at least wet their appetite which means they may return and make a purchase. </p>
<p>Face it, this concept is really very simple. People like freebies, but they want freebies that offer good information. If they receive some good information either by your content or giveaway, you will see a return visit and they will tell their friends or even do some free advertising for you. Because your content is just that good.</p>
<p>Another issue may be the ease of access throughout your website. Have you ever been on a website and wanted to sign up for a newsletter or product but had a hard time finding the opt-in form? Or the website owner wanted more information than you wanted to provide? The idea is to make it easy and without pressure for your website visitor to take action while they are on your website.</p>
<p>Last, the type of products you are promoting on your website can also be detrimental to your website traffic. In some cases, visitors want to experience a website where the sales page is written in such a manner where it is in-depth, but also engaging enough where it can be scanned for the hot points of why your product will meet their needs. </p>
<p>Additionally, most people who are surfing the net are doing so trying to find something to wet their purchasing appetite. If that be the case, don&#8217;t get tied down with promoting online one product. Offer your website visitors a variety of products, but only those that are for a target niche. They should be specific to particular niche and not like a splatter of products that are not complimentary to each other. In other words, why have your main product be health and wellness, but on the same page you are advertising decadent high calorie chocolates. They just don&#8217;t go together.</p>
<p>Granted, affiliate marketing can sometimes be overwhelming especially if you get caught up in comparing yourself to the latest internet marketer phenomenon. Sometimes, you have to slow down, absorb the information and then get back at it; don&#8217;t give in to the stressors around you. When tackling your affiliate business work at it like these folks that talk about how to eat an elephant, you just do it, and focus on working your business one piece at a time.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Alot of readers are struggling over this whole Web 2.0 topic, so I thought I&#8217;d better clear the air and leave some helpful information here.</p>
<p>The term &#8220;Web 2.0&#8243; was originally coined by O&#8217;Reilly media back in 2004 based on their predictions and trend reporting on where surfers spent their online time and what internet users would want next.</p>
<p>Web 2.0 is a broad term that relates to some relatively new ways to seek and spend (time or money) online.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;ve been online as long as I have you&#8217;ll remember that there wasn&#8217;t much to look at back then and every login (at least my sessions) began with a search engine hunt. I&#8217;d start at yahoo, type in my term and hit all the sites that resulted for research or education (there were not millions of results back then). Within an hour you&#8217;d be done and disconnect.</p>
<blockquote><p>Women can relate to these old ways in this manner: you go to a new shopping mall and peek inside or browse every store in the mall. As you move through the stores you&#8217;re collecting data &#8211; something that your sister would like, something you&#8217;d like to save for, a great shop to visit before Christmas, or even never go to that shop again.</p></blockquote>
<p>The internet grew and so did it&#8217;s user count. Junk websites abounded, search results became less relevant, more hours were spent to gather the same quality information that you could grab in an hour (if it even existed).</p>
<p>But not only has the number of pages and sites grown, not only have the numbers of surfers grown, but we as individuals have changed. Most of us have begun the journey of understanding that our tastes, preferences, ideas, class, etc. define us. As such, we become frustrated trying to learn about something from a site created by an unlike mind.<span id="more-156"></span></p>
<p>Now if that&#8217;s not enough to send you off this post I don&#8217;t know what is. I will try to rewrite this for clarity later, but the gist here is that&#8230;</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;We have learned that we can find easy-to-digest knowledge, that is applicable to our purposes, without all the painful searching and re-searching&#8230;if only we could just find someone who &#8216;speaks our language&#8217;. Which seldom is the case when we surf by search engine results.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>Let me give you a personal example&#8230;</p>
<blockquote><p>I&#8217;m a business woman 1st, an internet marketer 2nd, and a geek 3rd.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve been all week in research over web-based applications that will assist me in the creation of a social networking site. (Not like myspace or 43things, I&#8217;ve got something different in mind.)</p>
<p>The sites that google serves up for my search terms are developer&#8217;s websites, programmer&#8217;s forums, all written in some kind of geek language that makes little sense to my business woman&#8217;s brain. Frustrating as all get out &#8211; even for a part geek like me!</p>
<p>The showcased scripts and applications, software and dedicated server languages seldom list a full set of features with working demos and talk of what is to come.</p>
<p>These sites are only of minor assistance because they&#8217;re not &#8216;speaking my language&#8217;. Without a marketing mind behind the software I have no idea how each one will integrate with my marketing efforts, serve or attract my target market, monetize my efforts, etc.</p>
<p>I need &#8216;like minds&#8217; speaking to research my options fully and from that make an educated decision.</p></blockquote>
<p><strong>That</strong> is precisely how we&#8217;ve changed as internet users. We&#8217;re looking for our clans, our peers, our social equals and it&#8217;s all showing up in the sites we frequent!</p>
<p>We <strong>aren&#8217;t</strong> always interested in commenting or sharing our views, but we <strong>are</strong> certainly interested in reading like-minded others&#8217; thoughts, training, and recommendations.</p>
<p>We&#8217;re hunting for people with the same personal goals (43things.com), people with the same  interests (cafemom.com), people in the same profession (linkedin.com), and so on.</p>
<p>Web 2.0 is all about online collaboration, the sharing process between users (you don&#8217;t have to share to be in this &#8216;club&#8217;, intake of information is, after all, a fractal piece of any collaboration), and the services that facilitate the new way to spend time online*.</p>

<li>That &#8216;sharing&#8217; began with public bookmark lists (social bookmarking) &#8211; &#8220;Here are the places I frequent. If they resonate with you, then you&#8217;ll want to check out more of those places.&#8221;  (see deli.cio.us)</li>
<li>The next big wave was social networking &#8211; &#8220;Here are my friends, favorite music, photos, goals&#8230;&#8221; (see myspace, flikr, 43things).</li>
</ul>
<p>I will continue to discuss Web 2.0 until it becomes clearer for you in future posts. In the meantime visit some of the sites within past paragraphs and get a taste for yourself.</p>

<p>It will take you hours to read through the description of each (click on any logo for a short description on the right pane) but doing so will give you a strong understanding of what classifies as a Web 2.0 site.</p>
<p>If you don&#8217;t have hours to browse (boy do I understand that!), then use the search tags and search for sites that are meeting your current target market with their trendy innovations. Now you know what you&#8217;re up against in the coming months!</p>
<p>I will warn you, the site is a little clunky at the moment, but an upgrade is in the works to improve speed and tag browsing.</p>

Are you just going to &#8220;part time&#8221; this or are you really going to commitment yourself to this goal and strive day in and day out to achieve it.  Reality Check #3 !!! Do you quit when it gets tough? Just so you know this is just like any other business out there. It gets tough at times.  So enough about commitment.  What do you need to do to succeed?  That is really the question.</p>
<p>Tip #1 &#8211; find the best coaching and mentoring program that you can find.  Make sure that they have your interest at heart, not just their pocketbook.</p>
<p>Tip #2 &#8211; some of the best coaching and mentoring programs out there will not break your wallet.  It you are expecting something for free &#8211; think again &#8211; it&#8217;s not going to help you that much.  You need people with experience and a proven track record of success. <p>Tip #3 &#8211; commit to a specific amount of time that you will spend building your new career.  It&#8217;s not going to happen overnight, so make sure you keep it realistic.</p>

<p><strong>Building Your Site Rule #1</strong> <br />Always have a strong headline.</p>
<p>No matter how great your sales copy is or how great your content and information is&#8230; no one will stick around long enough to read it unless you grab them with your headline.</p>
<p>Make sure you have a compelling enough headline to make the person want to stay and read your information.</p>
<p><strong>Building Your Site Rule #2</strong> <br />Make your home page a strong sales letter that combines elements of an article and an endorsement.</p>
<p>The best way to have a sales letter that is not hyped up and can still do a good &#8220;pre-sell&#8221; is to have a form of a product &#8220;review&#8221; or &#8220;endorsement.&#8221; What most people are interested in is reading the pros and cons about a product. Spend some time and dedicate the home page to a good product, write a good &#8220;endorsement&#8221; article.</p>
<p><strong>Building Your Site Rule #3</strong> <br />Stop hiding your links. Let your visitors read your articles&#8230;</p>
<p>Some advocates of the old mini-site strategy advised you to have NO other links on your site. There was supposed to be just one other link &#8211; the BUY NOW link. And I think this still works, but for merchant sites &#8211; not affiliate websites.</p>
<p>Remember, your job is to PRE-SELL, not sell. You&#8217;re not trying to corner your potential customer, you&#8217;re just trying to gain their trust. The best way to gain their trust is to offer them a bunch of useful advice and helpful content. That means you&#8217;ll need LINKS to all that good stuff on your site.</p>
<p>Now remember, the other articles on your site should also be &#8220;pre-selling&#8221; your readers &#8211; so one way or the other, you will be able to gain their trust and get the sale.</p>
<p><strong>Building Your Site Rule #4</strong> <br />Offer lots and lots of articles &#8211; all with easy navigation.</p>
<p>As PPC gets more and more expensive, it&#8217;s getting harder and harder to get qualified leads from search engine advertising. It&#8217;s also getting tougher and tougher to find easy shortcuts to a #1 placement. A cheaper and more effective strategy is to patiently work WITH the search engines rather than trying to trick them or buy into them.</p>
<p>How do you work WITH the search engines? You offer content: articles, reviews, specs. If you can provide the search engines with what their users want, then the search engines will gladly send you free traffic. Affiliates are taking a strong turn towards doing search engine optimization and search engines want to see content.</p>
<p><strong>Building Your Site Rule #5</strong> <br />Add some other services and products to your site.</p>
<p>Focus your site on one niche AREA; then introduce additional products or services in key spots throughout the site. These additions should ALWAYS be tightly related to your site theme. Your potential customers are introduced to additional choices in the CONTEXT of an article or a review. You&#8217;re giving them additional ways to spend money on you.</p>
<p>And by additional products, I mean products that you have potentially created yourself &#8211; high ticket products that can bring in a lot of money. High-ticket affiliate products are OK as well.</p>
<p><strong>Building Your Site Rule #6</strong> <br />Include an FAQ section &#8211; most critical!</p>
<p>Almost NO affiliate sites use this strategy. However, it&#8217;s one of the most powerful.</p>
<p>You&#8217;re probably very well aware of the most common questions people ask? Well, build them into your sales letter/endorsement/article. Use sub-headlines to draw attention to them. The quicker your visitors can find their answers through your website, the quicker they will buy from you and the more they will return to your site.</p>
<p>The above 6 rules should be followed very closely for every affiliate site you ever launch. Together they optimize your website to be the most profitable.</p>

<p>In order to have a good chance of making your affiliate marketing business work for you, the first thing that you have to do is make sure you know what you are doing. A business plan is a must, and the first part of this is talking about what you are going to do with your home business. You have to have something that you are doing for others, whether you are providing them with a service or you are getting them something that they buy from you. No matter what it is, though you have to pick it based upon what you are good at. </p>
<p>Now, this doesn&#8217;t mean that you can&#8217;t do something other than what you are doing for a living before you begin the home business. You might have a hobby or something that is interesting to you that you do often, but it might not be what you do to make money.
