If writing is an art, then, blogging is one way of using words to come up with an art. This is because people who are into blogging are the ones who are artistic on their own sense, carefully choosing words that would best describe their feelings, sentiments, wishes, desires, and everything.

Basically, blogs were first introduced as weblogs that refer to a ?server?s log file.? It was created when web logging hit the virtual market. Since its inception in the mid-1990s, web logging gradually saturated the virtual community making the Internet a viable source of greater information.

However, with web logging, you still need a web site and domain names, but with blogging, you do not need anything just an account with blog providers. In most cases, these kinds of blogs are free of charge.

With the onset of blogging in the industry, personal journaling had been a common ground for people who wish to be known all over the world. However, not literally famous as this is not a case on being popular or well-known personality.

Generally, blogs are created for personal use. Like a journal, people can write their daily adventures, sentiments, and whatever ideas they want to express online.

Nevertheless, with the advent of the online businesses, blogs had gradually taken the limelight in providing businesses a chance to boost their productivity online. This is where the business blogs have taken the limelight.

Business blogs are, basically, created to advertise the services or products of a certain web site or online business in order to increase online sales.

Moreover, business blogs are also one way of promoting the company so that the other readers will know that a certain company exists online. With blogs, entrepreneurs are able to establish a name in the virtual market through articles that can be very useful in the reader?s life.

From there, you can make money out of blogs by simply syndicating it to your business? web site. This can be done through the RSS technology.

So, if you are thinking to create a blog, whether for business or for pleasure, you need to know some tips that could help you get through and make your blog one of the interesting blogs online.

Here’s how:

1. Consider your audience

Even if your blog is generally personal, still, it would be better to consider the minds of your readers. You have to think of something that would interest them.

After all, most of the reasons of people who write blogs are not at all confined to their own personal motives. Most of them would love to be ?heard? (or read) and would love to be known, in some way or another, even for just a minute. Hence, it is very important to come with a write up that everybody can understand, not necessarily that these people can relate to it but they can understand it.

2. Pictures speaks a thousand words

To make your blogging worth the browsing effort of your readers, it would be extremely nice if you will put some pictures in it. It does not necessarily mean you have to place a picture of yourself. Any photographs will do as long as it does not pose danger or insult to anyone who will be reading your blog.

3. Make constructive and beneficial blogs

Even if you are free to write anything you wan to say to the world, still, it would be better to create some write-ups that would be beneficial to your readers.

After all, its information technology that you have there so better be inclined to provide information rather than sheer quirky entertainment.

4. Avoid making multifaceted and complicated blogs

In order to have an interesting blogs, try not to use some highly technical and highfalutin words. After all, it is not a science discourse or a debate that you are making, so better stick to simple facts and short blogs.

Bear in mind that most people who use the Internet usually do more scanning than scrutinizing each site word for word. Therefore, it would be better to come with blogs that will not bore your readers just because you have these lengthy articles.

5. Make it interactive

As much as possible and if your capacity will allow it, make your blog interactive. Yu can do this by placing some video or audio clips in your blog.

You can even place an area for comments or for some feedbacks. In this way, you can get some impressions or reactions of other people. Who knows, you might even gain some friends just by making them feel at home in your blog site.

Indeed, blogs are not created just for the mere fun of it. It also has its own purpose in the world of the Internet.
Therefore, for people who wish to harness their craft, as far as writing is concerned, blogs are the best way to do it.

As they say, blogging is the contemporary term of creative and commercial writing.

Affiliate marketing is the revenue sharing between online advertisers (and merchants) and online salespeople. Compensation and pay is based on performance measures, normally in the form of clicks, sales, and registrations.

The advertisers and merchants are normally referred to as affiliate merchants, and publishers or sales people are known as affiliates.

The many benefits of affiliate marketing include the potential for making lots of money. You can automate a lot of the advertising process and receive payment only for desired results, which includes sales, registrations, and clicks.

Even though most merchants will assume some level of risk with fraud, there is still a level of risk involved. Once you know what you’re doing with affiliate marketing, you’ll be on top well before you know it.

Affiliate marketing has been a contributor to the rise of many companies online, including Amazon.com.

Amazon.com was one of the first adopters of affiliate marketing, and now has thousands of affiliate relationships.

When it comes to making money, affiliate marketing is in a league of it’s own. You don’t have to worry about bosses breathing down your neck, and you are in control of everything you do with your company and your website.

Affiliate marketing also gives you the chance to stand behind products you know and love, be offering links and banners to them on your personal website. You’ll receive money for each product purchased that you represent, which is reason enough to participate.

If you’ve been looking for extra money, affiliate marketing is the way to go. You can stick with one merchant or go with as many as you need for your business. Affilate marketing on the internet is truly becoming more and more popular – making now the time for you to get your foot in the door.

Affiliate marketing programs has never been as popular before as it is today. Why? There can be a number of reasons. The most probable reason, however, could be the fact that the benefits of affiliate marketing have become clearer to a lot of people now than they were before.

Today, both the merchants and the affiliates can see clearly that affiliate marketing can work for both of them. The merchant sees affiliate marketing today as the chance to advertise their products at a lower cost. The affiliates, on the other hand, sees affiliate marketing as an easy way of earning profits online by doing what they like most, and that is by creating websites.

Just as the popularity of affiliate marketing has shifted into greater heights, so has the people’s outlook about it changed. No longer is affiliate marketing considered today as an alternative method for the merchant to advertise his products, or as a source of additional income for the affiliates. For merchants and affiliates alike, affiliate marketing is now considered as a main source of profits and revenues.

So the question now is what type of affiliate marketing will work best for you? Are all affiliate marketing programs the same? Are the benefits the same? Or are there affiliate marketing programs that work better than the others?

There are actually different types or classes of affiliate marketing, and the number of types will depend on how one will classify them. The most basic affiliate marketing programs, however, falls under two categories: pay-per-click (PPC), and pay-per-performance (PPP).

Pay Per Click (PPC)

PPC is the most popular type of affiliate marketing for affiliates with small websites, and probably the easiest way for them to earn money. In this affiliate marketing type, the merchant pays his affiliate whenever a visitor is referred to his site, that is whenever someone clicks through the merchant’s banner or text ads. The affiliate gets paid a certain amount even if the visitor he referred does not purchase anything from the merchant’s site. However, typical fees for PPC affiliate programs are small, usually not exceeding a dollar for every click.

Pay Per Performance (PPP)

PPP affiliate marketing is the most popular among merchant and is also the most lucrative type for the affiliates. In this type of affiliate program, the merchant only pays the affiliate whenever his referral translates into an action?that is whenever the visitor he has referred actually buys something from the merchant’s site or when the visitor becomes a lead. This means a lot of savings for the merchant. On the other hand, it becomes the most lucrative type for the dedicated affiliate, for commissions in PPP affiliate marketing usually comes in the range of 15% to 20% of the actual product sales.

Pay-per-performance affiliate marketing can be further classified into two popular types: pay-per-sales (PPS) and pay-per-lead (PPL).

Pay Per Sale (PPS)

In a pay-per-sale type of affiliate marketing, the merchants pay the affiliate a certain fee whenever the visitor he has referred to the merchant’s site actually buys something from the merchant’s site. Affiliates are often paid on commission basis, although other merchants would opt to pay a fixed fee. But no matter what the basis of the fee is, it is generally higher than the fee paid to affiliates in a pay-per-click affiliate program.

Pay Per Lead (PPL)

The pay-per-lead type of affiliate marketing is a slight variation of the PPS type and is often used by insurance and finance companies and other companies who rely on leads for their company to grow. In this type of affiliate marketing, the affiliate is paid whenever the visitor he referred to the merchant’s site fills up an application form or any similar form related to the business of the company. Compensation for this type of affiliate marketing is based on a fixed fee whose rates approximate that of the fixed fee in the PPS type.

Aside from these three specific types of affiliate marketing, a lot of other affiliate marketing types exist. If the classification is based on the depth of the affiliate network, it can be classified as single-tier, two-tier, and multi-tier affiliate marketing. There is also another type of affiliate marketing that pays the affiliate each time the customer he has referred purchases something from the merchant’s site.

Single-Tier, Two-Tier, and Multi-Tier Affiliate Marketing

These types of affiliate marketing are based on the different levels or tiers in the affiliate network by which payments are made. In a single-tier affiliate marketing program, the affiliates are only paid based on the direct sales or traffic he has referred to the merchant. All the previously mentioned affiliate marketing types (i.e. PPS< PPL, and PPC) fall under the single-tier classification.

In two-tier affiliate marketing programs, the affiliate is not only paid for the direct traffic or sales that he refers to the merchant’s site, but also on every traffic or sales referred by various other affiliates who joined the affiliate program through his recommendation. Multi-tier affiliate marketing works the same way, although the affiliate gets additional commission for a wider number of affiliates in different tiers in the affiliate network.

Residual Income Affiliate Marketing

In residual income affiliate marketing, the affiliate gets paid not only once for every customer he has referred to the merchant’s site. Rather, the affiliate is also paid whenever the customer he has referred returns to the site and purchase another product. Compensation for such type of affiliate marketing is based on either sales percentage commission or fixed fee basis.

The different affiliate marketing types would virtually work differently for merchants and affiliates alike, and each would generally have their own list of benefits. Which type of affiliate marketing will work best for you? It is not really for me to tell. Rather, it is for you to choose which type of affiliate marketing program will suit your needs and characteristics best.

With affiliate programs, it really pays to work well with others. Also known as referral programs, affiliate programs are normally commission based sales. You’ll recommend a site to your visitors and then pick up a percentage of any sale that those visitors make. You’ll benefit from the commission and the merchant benefits from the sales.

If you already have a website set up, you can run an affiliate program from it, or you can simply build a site to promote a particular product or service. As long as it brings in more cash than it takes to build or run it, you’ll be fine.

With any marketing program, you’ll need to be careful when you select an affiliate program. The benefit of an affiliate program will give you another way to make money from your users. Instead of selling them a product, you simply send them to a partner then take a cut of the profits.

Even though it may seem tempting to go for programs with the highest commissions, those programs won’t pay you anything if your visitors don’t buy them.

Here are some tips to help you select an affiliate program that’s right for you.

Do not accept any less than 25% with commission. You can find many programs with great payment structures and high percentages of pay in just about any field.

Look for statistic pages that list the number of click throughs, sales, and earnings so you’ll be able to see how you are doing.

Always look for programs that offer a wide variety of tools to put on your web site, including banners, text links, and of course graphics.

Find out hwo often you’ll be paid and be sure that the payment schedule meets with your own expectations. Some programs will pay monthly, while others will pay quarterly.

Be sure that top level support is included. If they can’t answer your questions in a quick and timely manner, you don’t want to work with them.

Once you learn what you are doing with affiliate programs, you can make a lot of money. If you are just starting out, you should always use common sense and not rush into anything. As you become more familiar with how things work, you’ll be well on your way to making a lot of money – and enjoying making it. If you have to work hard, you’ll be glad you did.

Affiliate marketing programs are a great way to get income for your website, and a great introduction to e-commerce. The more people that drop by your website, the great your chance will be at creating an excellent income.

Affiliate marketing programs are where a company offers to pay you a set amount for either a click through from your website, or a set amount for visitors signing up, or even a percentage of a purchase made by visitors as a result of being referred from your website.

Even if visitors don’t make a purchase immediately, almost all programs offer cookie duration, normally consisting of 30 – 90 days. What this means, is that as long as the visitors have the cookie in their cache, you’ll still recieve a profit from the sale.

The biggest amount of time in maintaining your site will be searching and implementing affiliations with various companies. Even though there’s a lot of money in affiliate marketing, you have to take the time to search for the best programs.

One thing that you may not be happy with, is the idea of other companies banners littering your website. If you use too many banners or links on any web page, it can confuse and help to irritate your visitors. More than one animated element on a web page can be very distracting as well.

Affiliate tracking can also be a problem. Once you have applied to become an affiliate for a company, they’ll usually supply you with a personalized link or code. It’s very important that you implement this code into your page correctly, or you may be sending visitors to the company without recieving any profit.

A majority of snippets in the code will contain a unique user ID, which the company uses to distinguish which site sent traffic.

Alot of readers are struggling over this whole Web 2.0 topic, so I thought I’d better clear the air and leave some helpful information here.

The term “Web 2.0″ was originally coined by O’Reilly media back in 2004 based on their predictions and trend reporting on where surfers spent their online time and what internet users would want next.

Web 2.0 is a broad term that relates to some relatively new ways to seek and spend (time or money) online.

If you’ve been online as long as I have you’ll remember that there wasn’t much to look at back then and every login (at least my sessions) began with a search engine hunt. I’d start at yahoo, type in my term and hit all the sites that resulted for research or education (there were not millions of results back then). Within an hour you’d be done and disconnect.

Women can relate to these old ways in this manner: you go to a new shopping mall and peek inside or browse every store in the mall. As you move through the stores you’re collecting data – something that your sister would like, something you’d like to save for, a great shop to visit before Christmas, or even never go to that shop again.

The internet grew and so did it’s user count. Junk websites abounded, search results became less relevant, more hours were spent to gather the same quality information that you could grab in an hour (if it even existed).

But not only has the number of pages and sites grown, not only have the numbers of surfers grown, but we as individuals have changed. Most of us have begun the journey of understanding that our tastes, preferences, ideas, class, etc. define us. As such, we become frustrated trying to learn about something from a site created by an unlike mind.

Now if that’s not enough to send you off this post I don’t know what is. I will try to rewrite this for clarity later, but the gist here is that…

“We have learned that we can find easy-to-digest knowledge, that is applicable to our purposes, without all the painful searching and re-searching…if only we could just find someone who ‘speaks our language’. Which seldom is the case when we surf by search engine results.”

Let me give you a personal example…

I’m a business woman 1st, an internet marketer 2nd, and a geek 3rd.

I’ve been all week in research over web-based applications that will assist me in the creation of a social networking site. (Not like myspace or 43things, I’ve got something different in mind.)

The sites that google serves up for my search terms are developer’s websites, programmer’s forums, all written in some kind of geek language that makes little sense to my business woman’s brain. Frustrating as all get out – even for a part geek like me!

The showcased scripts and applications, software and dedicated server languages seldom list a full set of features with working demos and talk of what is to come.

These sites are only of minor assistance because they’re not ‘speaking my language’. Without a marketing mind behind the software I have no idea how each one will integrate with my marketing efforts, serve or attract my target market, monetize my efforts, etc.

I need ‘like minds’ speaking to research my options fully and from that make an educated decision.

That is precisely how we’ve changed as internet users. We’re looking for our clans, our peers, our social equals and it’s all showing up in the sites we frequent!

We aren’t always interested in commenting or sharing our views, but we are certainly interested in reading like-minded others’ thoughts, training, and recommendations.

We’re hunting for people with the same personal goals (43things.com), people with the same interests (cafemom.com), people in the same profession (linkedin.com), and so on.

Web 2.0 is all about online collaboration, the sharing process between users (you don’t have to share to be in this ‘club’, intake of information is, after all, a fractal piece of any collaboration), and the services that facilitate the new way to spend time online*.

That ‘sharing’ began with public bookmark lists (social bookmarking) – “Here are the places I frequent. If they resonate with you, then you’ll want to check out more of those places.” (see deli.cio.us)

The next big wave was social networking – “Here are my friends, favorite music, photos, goals…” (see myspace, flikr, 43things).

I will continue to discuss Web 2.0 until it becomes clearer for you in future posts. In the meantime visit some of the sites within past paragraphs and get a taste for yourself.

As always, leave me notes, questions, or comments below.

Yes, and some recommendations if you’re already running your own social network site with a script that integrates articles, reviews, cards, images, videos, audios and IPN.

Thanks for being here,

p.s. I’ll say it once more, “to date the best training you can get on understanding and creating 2.0 sites is here“.

—————————–

*I highly suggest setting aside an hour or so and surfing through descriptions of Web 2.0 sites who are already seeing the joys of being ahead of the curve at http://go2web20.net/

It will take you hours to read through the description of each (click on any logo for a short description on the right pane) but doing so will give you a strong understanding of what classifies as a Web 2.0 site.

If you don’t have hours to browse (boy do I understand that!), then use the search tags and search for sites that are meeting your current target market with their trendy innovations. Now you know what you’re up against in the coming months!

I will warn you, the site is a little clunky at the moment, but an upgrade is in the works to improve speed and tag browsing.
