To Adsense or Not Adsense…

Posted on April 27, 2005

There’s a few traffic experts, marketing gurus, who will tell you not to play the ‘Adsense for Income’ game.

They’ll tell you that visitors should come to the site and order your product or leave. Give them too many choices and you’ll confuse them. And end up losing the bigger sale for a mere 20 cent click.

Those marketing mentors are right. In one sense.

Listen there are two kinds of websites. Content sites and Mini-sites.

Content sites make cash off affiliate links and adsense revenue. Mini-sites make cash off a one time offer and future follow ups (if you’ve got your subscription form in order).

Minisites should not use Adsense.

Content sites should use Adsense, and prosper!

I’m a content site girl, but that’s because I love to write and I love keyword research…If writing isn’t your thing there are ways around it, but the only replacement for keyword research and trial and error, hit or miss, and that way could be costly indeed.

I haven’t always loved keyword research, but once I saw the income producing power of this preliminary research I learned to love it! As a matter of fact I even wrote a report on market research using keywords specifically for ebook authors over at one of my other websites…

Let’s get back to Adsense and Content Sites, okay?

If you’re going to reach for Adsense income you’ll want to know the highest paying search terms for your market - then you’ll write your posts or web pages using those keywords to ensure that your Adsense ads are served with the highest payouts.

Easy?

So, where do you start with keyword research?

Well if you’re totally new to using keywords and key phrases in your marketing efforts I suggest you sign up for this free course. (Sign up on the left hand side of the page. It won’t seem relevant at sign-up or even on day 1’s email, but follow through! By day 2 you will see the value and learn heaps by the time you get to the end of the email course.) This is by far my favorite course on keyword research and it’s free. Knowing and applying the information you’ll learn will set you above 90% of your competition - unless of course you’re a search engine specialist.

Okay, with an understanding of using keywords in your marketing you’ll now want to visit one of my favorite pages…

This free tool gives you a general idea of how much people are paying to advertise their product or service per click. HERE

Those are overture/yahoo ads, but google’s pricing is comparable.

Google’s Adsense program pays you, the content website publisher, using an algorithm, generally 55%-70% of the advertiser’s fee. So, find your target keywords first, then write content using those keywords.

Finally, to make sure that your adsense ads get clicked on, read Joel’s new book - or my review and personal experience with Adsense here.

And, if you’re interested in setting up your own site with Adsense earnings, here’s the fast link…

Laura, you are right on the button. Between Joel’s book and Stampede Secrets, both my traffic and my income from this site have multiplied more than a dozen times. In fact, my RSS feeds supply more traffic than anything else I’ve done in the last few months.

Hey John, thanks for writing in!

It’s always good to know that I’m not the only one benefitting from these little discoveries!

Sometimes I just get so excited by the traffic and income increase…I want everyone to get on board. Of course not everyone is ready…

First you gotta invest the time and the money (less than $100 each), then you have to apply what you’ve learned. I don’t see the difficulty, but I am here to help people and answer questions.

The less than $100 I paid for Joel’s insights have paid me back over 6 times now and continue to work everyday without any further effort on my part.

    Geesh…sometimes this is so easy.
