Getting the Right Links Can Be Challenging, Right?
Here's what I've
noticed...
There are two
very common website problems when it comes to getting well-listed
in the search engines:
- One - You won't even get into the major search engines like Google,
Yahoo and MSN, if no one's linking to you.
- And Two
- If just few
unrelated websites are linking to you, the search engines give
your site very little value. And you won't be getting
visitors if your website is on page 20 of the Google results!
Now, excuse
me getting all "geeky" on you, but I want to explain the
two different link 'types' and how they affect rank and placement.

Page Factors (links coming in) are becoming more and more important.
- On
Page Factors (pages interlinked within website) are becoming less and less
important.
The major search
engines are now interested in giving high ranks to websites which other
sites have 'voted for'.
How do search
engines count votes? By
counting the incoming links!
And what's even
more frustrating is...
- Not all links
are created equal.
For instance, CNN linking
to you is many, many times more valuable to your search engine ranking
than some random link on an overcrowded page of an unrelated website.
